WHAT TO DO WHEN

THE SEPTIC TANK ALARM GOES OFF?

Silence the Alarm: Most alarms have a button to silence the sound. This won’t fix the problem, but it gets rid of the alarm temporarily  while you troubleshoot.

Reduce Water Use :  Immediately minimize water usage to avoid exacerbating the issue.

Check the Breaker and Pump: Ensure the pump is getting power and hasn’t tripped a breaker.  If the pump does has power and is running but the water level is not lowering, you might have a blockage.  In this case, you will want to turn the power off to avoid burning out a pump (pumps are expensive!}

Inspect the Float Switch: If possible, check if the float switch is stuck or obstructed.

Call a Professional: If you’re unsure or can’t resolve the issue, fill out the form below or call us at 403-899-8992 to diagnose and fix the problem.

THE IMPORTANCE OF HAVING

A SEPTIC TANK HIGH LEVEL ALARM INSTALLED

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

When it comes to home maintenance, septic systems don’t always get the attention they deserve. Let’s face it — your septic tank works hard in the background, and most people don’t think about it until something goes wrong. But when something does go wrong, it’s often too late to prevent a costly, messy, and downright nasty situation.

This is where a septic tank alarm becomes your unsung hero. By alerting you when things are going off-track, a septic alarm can save you thousands of dollars, spare you from stress, and help keep your home (or office) running smoothly. If you’re wondering why you need a septic tank alarm or how it works, you’re in the right place. Let’s dive in.

WHAT IS

A SEPTIC TANK HIGH LEVEL ALARM?

A septic alarm is a device designed to alert you when the water level in your septic tank rises too high. This usually means that there’s a problem with the system’s normal operations, like a blockage, pump failure, or excessive water use.

When your septic alarm goes off, it’s your system’s way of waving a red flag and telling you, “Hey, something’s wrong — fix me before it gets worse!”  Ignoring a septic alarm could result in sewage backups into the facility or home, or possibly damaging other components like a pump.

These alarms typically come with a visual alert (such as a flashing light) and an audible alert (like a loud beeping noise). The alarm ensures you’re aware of issues before they escalate into full-blown disasters.
RED LIGHT – usually means water isn’t exiting the tank (failed pump, failed float, blockage, etc).
AMBER LIGHT – usually means an issue with an air compressor/blower (if installed)

WHAT ARE THE BASIC COMPONENTS

OF A SEPTIC TANK HIGH LEVEL ALARM SYSTEM?

Types of Septic Tank Alarms:

Wired Alarms: These connect directly to your home’s electrical system. They’re reliable but require a dedicated separate electrical circuit run from the house to the tank.

Wireless Alarms: These battery-operated alarms are usually coupled with a solar panel to keep the batteries charged.  They are a great option for older systems that don’t already have power circuits run to the tank.

We are professionals at installing either type of septic high level alarm, at your home or commercial building.  Septic alarms are extremely valuable to prevent costly and dangerous backups.  Connect with us to get one installed! 403-899-8992
